Wes Filer

Wes Filer (b. 1983)

As a composer, his work blends analog synthesizers with orchestration and has been featured by brands, galleries, and performance spaces.

While at KCHUNG Radio, he produced and conducted interviews with artists across a wide range of disciplines, focusing on creative process and artistic practice.

After the pandemic, he founded Cardboard Walls Media, whose first feature, Birth of the Modern Man, centers on the life of fictional musician J Jackie through documentary interviews, archival footage, original music, and silent-film vignettes. The film explores memory, authorship, artistic identity, and how the stories we tell about others ultimately become stories about ourselves.

He graduated summa cum laude from the Los Angeles Recording School in 2015 after attending Berklee College of Music, where he studied arrangement and served as personal assistant to Ran Blake before being expelled for a third and final time.

He currently lives somewhere in Manhattan.
